Centuries ago, the family name was indicative of the family trade.  This family date night is a challenge to describe your family and celebrate what makes it special.  The goal is to spell your name using the letters from area business signs.

What to do:

Make a list of your family’s “top spots” in your home town. Include everything from movie theaters to amusement parks; restaurants to ice cream parlors.

Then, see which places include one of the letters in your family name and hit the road!  Travel to each location and take a picture of ONE LETTER within their sign. You may want to plan a special treat by actually visiting one of your family’s “top spots” for dinner or dessert.

TIP: make sure to take all pictures vertically.

Only include places that are special to the entire family and while you are out, talk about some of your favorite memories at each location. If your kids are old enough, give them duties. One could take notes and write down the details, while another is the photographer.

After you’ve gathered all of the pictures, have them printed and display them for all to see. Put the notes describing your Photo Scavenger Hunt behind the photograph, making it a type of time capsule. This will become a great conversation piece for years to come.

Just as we carry our family name and our actions impact what other people think of it, we also carry Jesus’ name. We are part of his family and we represent Him. That is a huge honor and also a huge responsibility!
